Readiness to Participate Criteria

While Girls on the Run® provides almost everything needed to run the program, the site is required to provide the following information, which is important to be complete and accurate since it is the information that is provided to families in their Welcome Packet:
Provide a Site Liaison (person who GOTR will contact weekly with information for practices- usually a head coach)
Provide a safe, dedicated space for running. THIS IS ESSENTIAL. This does not have to be a track. A field is fine. However, there is a need to measure off part of the area (quarter mile) for occasions when lessons require running a certain distance, e.g. 1 mile, 5K, etc. and a need to be able to see the girls running at all times.

Identify participants. Distribute and in some cases, collect registration forms from 3rd-5th or 6th-8th grade girls.
Remember, GOTR can have a maximum of 12 participants on a team for the first season; subsequent seasons can have up to 15 participants per team. We can look into more teams if needed and resources are available. Schools typically make the copies to be distributed to the families in the grades of girls who can participate. If your school is not able to make copies, please let us know here.
Provide at least one head coach and two assistant coaches per team for your site. Please list coaches below – list additional coaches if applicable. All head and assistant coaches will be required to attend one day of Girls on the Run® training on either Saturday, August 27th or Saturday September 10th. Training for ALL repeat coaches will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and ALL new coaches will attend from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., location TBA. The Head Coach and at least one assistant coach per team must be 1st Aid and CPR certified, provided by GOTR, date and location TBA. Head Coaches must attend ONE mid-season coaches meeting on Oct. 26th from 5:30-7:30 OR Nov. 3rd 5:30-7:30. Coaches must be available two afternoons per week from September 21st through December 3rd, 2011.
